Beginning in February 2022, first-time CDL applicants can anticipate mandatory training, including Entry-level Driver Training Theory courses and Entry-level Public Road and Range Training (Behind-the-Wheel)—all offered at CES!
This 40-hour online course is intended to meet all theory (knowledge) requirements listed in the federal regulation 49 CFR Part 380, Special Training Requirements, and includes Sections covering Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Advanced Operating Practices, Vehicle Systems, Reporting Malfunctions, and Non-Driving Activities.
Our comprehensive Behind the Wheel training and observation course is meticulously crafted to equip our students with fundamental knowledge and practical skills essential for successfully mastering the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exam.

- Safety Tractor-Trailer Operation: In-depth training focusing on safe and efficient operation of tractor-trailers.
- Map Reading and Route Planning: Hands-on instruction in map reading and effective route planning to enhance navigational skills.
- Driver's Daily Log & Hours of Service: Detailed guidance on maintaining accurate driver logs and complying with hours of service regulations.
- Airbrakes: Comprehensive training on airbrake systems to ensure thorough understanding and safe operation.
- Pre-Trip Instruction, Stop/Start, Couple/Uncouple: Practical sessions covering pre-trip inspections, stopping and starting procedures, and coupling/uncoupling techniques.
- Basic Preventative Maintenance, Tire Chain Installation, Mirror Adjustment: Essential learning on basic vehicle maintenance, tire chain installation for adverse weather conditions, and proper mirror adjustment for optimal visibility.
- Backing Instructions: Comprehensive guidance on various backing maneuvers, including straight line, offset, 90-degree alley docking, and parallel parking.
- Driving Instructions: Detailed training on upshifting, downshifting, in-town/traffic driving, entering and exiting freeway ramps, as well as navigating serpentine roads.
4 weeks, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
This certification program, comprising both behind-the-wheel training and observation is specifically designed for students with no prior experience. The comprehensive program aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills required to successfully pass the commercial driver’s license exam.
3 weeks, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
This certification program, comprising both behind-the-wheel training and observation, is meticulously crafted for students with minimal driving experience. It is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and skills essential for passing the commercial driver’s license exam.
2 weeks, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
This behind-the-wheel training and observation course is intended for students with prior experience operating a tractor-trailer. Students must be capable of safely performing backing and driving maneuvers to qualify for this course. It serves as a refresher training to prepare for successfully completing the commercial driver’s license exam.
1 week, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
This behind-the-wheel and observation training is intended for students who previously held a CDL or have years of work experience operating a tractor-trailer. Students must be able to safely and effectively perform all backing and driving maneuvers in order to qualify for this course. It is a refresher training that primarily focuses on pre-trip inspection in preparation for successfully passing the commercial driver’s license exam.
